A Wedding Day for Everyone: Inside the Club Engage Kids Zone

A wedding is a celebration for the whole family. With a dedicated Club Engage Kids Zone, the younger guests can have a day to look forward to as well.

At a wedding on 17 September 2026, our Event Zone team created a space for children to make, play and unwind while the celebrations continued nearby. Thirteen children joined us, with three Club Engage staff members on site for the eight-hour booking.

A dedicated space helped make the Kids Zone part of the wedding day.

A celebration with children in mind

Weddings bring together guests of different ages, and younger children experience the day differently from adults. Photographs, speeches and a long reception can leave little hands looking for something to do.

Our brief was to create a welcoming activity space alongside the celebration. Children could spend time together and enjoy a programme of their own, giving parents an option for supervised activities within the venue.

The plan began with a venue visit and a conversation with the bride. We reviewed possible spaces, shared activity ideas and worked from the wedding schedule to prepare for the day.

Making the space work for the day

The team used two conference spaces and an outdoor area, with bathrooms nearby. Tables, chairs, games and craft materials helped turn the space into a children’s activity zone.

The wedding photographs and another event at the venue meant that outdoor time was more limited than expected. Most of the programme therefore needed to work indoors.

Having a varied selection ready made that adjustment possible. The children could move between making, building and playing without relying on access to the garden throughout the day.

Crafts became the highlight

Arts and crafts were especially popular. Children made galaxies in bottles and decorated pot plants, with creations to take home at the end of the celebration. Colouring, building bricks and playdough offered more ways to get involved.

The team’s report records that children had expected a movie and were surprised by how much there was to do. Their enthusiasm came from being active participants, choosing activities and creating something of their own.

Wedding clothes also shaped the programme. Planned face painting was left out to avoid marking special outfits, and the experience reinforced the value of choosing low-mess activities for future wedding Kids Zones.

Indoor activities gave children different ways to play while the wedding continued nearby.

Games, fresh air and a quieter moment

Beanbag games were a favourite, including when the children needed to stay inside. Balloons and bubbles added variety, and the group enjoyed outdoor play when the wedding schedule allowed it.

An interactive reading session offered a calmer change of pace. That balance mattered across a long celebration: the programme needed room for energetic play as well as moments to settle.

Simple snacks such as fruit and popcorn were also well received. The day highlighted how useful it is to discuss children’s food, drinks and meal times separately from the adult wedding menu.

When the schedule allowed, the outdoor space added another dimension to the children’s day.

An experience families noticed

The event report records positive feedback from parents, children, the groom and a grandparent. Families were particularly impressed by the range of activities and the craft creations children took home.

The venue and external wedding coordinator also asked for more information to share with future couples. A dedicated Kids Zone offered a practical addition to the wedding experience, with the children’s enjoyment at its centre.

Planning a Kids Zone around your wedding

Every wedding has a different guest list, setting and schedule. A useful starting point is the number and ages of children, the hours of support needed and the space available at the venue.

From there, the activity plan can reflect the celebration: low-mess crafts for special outfits, games suited to the space, quieter options for later in the day and an indoor alternative if outdoor access changes.

Parent information, arrival and collection arrangements, food and drinks, and a clear contact at the venue should be agreed in advance. These practical details help the activity space fit into the wider wedding plan.
