Fulfilling dreams with a business in a box

Introduction

Janine Hammond is the Western Cape Manager for Club Engage and owns a franchise that services the Greater Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

Finding Club Engage

Five years ago, after always being in a corporate environment with a background in logistics I felt I needed something more stimulating and good aftercare for my children. Initially, I thought I would start a brand of my own but then I came across Genevieve’s contact details.

After discussing the franchise I loved the whole concept. I loved that everything was freely available and that we could buy a business in a box. By purchasing a franchise, I would fulfill both dreams. Doing what I felt passionate about and having the tools readily available.

Goal for the future

Since starting five years ago, we have grown from strength to strength. We’ve expanded beyond aftercare and holiday care and operate Kids Zones for corporate events, functions and music festivals. This expansion of services shows that the concept of Club Engage goes beyond the school or holiday care venue environments it is flexible and can be implemented in almost any secure environment.

My next goal is to focus on older children with a programme already in the pilot phase, which will make valuable contributions to their lives. The programme will provide an alternative to just having a place where they can sit and chill on a device.

Advice for new franchise owners

For me, it’s about the relationships you develop with the people in the franchise and what you learn from each other. I  would want them to know that they will join a group of people passionate about working together and building each other up.

Passion for the well-being of children

I’m passionate about people, animals and the well-being of children. My passion for children ensures they get the tools to become good grown-ups who positively contribute to the world. Having a Club Engage franchise means I can provide a safe environment to children in the afternoons and during the school holidays ensuring that they are not left to entertain themselves.

The best part of the day

The best part of my day is when my kids go to sleep.

Honestly, when my children are asleep, when everybody’s asleep I have time to reflect, just to breathe and plan for the next day and think of what went well today, what didn’t go well, and what can be done better tomorrow.
