Introduction
Hello! My name is Alizia Duarte E Sousa, and I am the proud franchise owner of Club Engage in Durbanville, Cape Town. With four sites currently in operation, my journey with Club Engage has been exciting and fulfilling. Let me share how I became a part of this incredible franchise and why it means so much to me.
Discovering Club Engage
In 2017, my daughter was transitioning from nursery school to primary school. At the time, I was a nursery school teacher, deeply involved in early childhood education. Like any parent, I wanted to ensure my daughter received the best care and support after school. This led us to Sherpa Kids, now known as Club Engage, at Pretoria Chinese School.
I was captivated by their values, the quality of their programs, and the overall approach to childcare. It wasn’t just an aftercare facility, it was a place where children could grow, learn, and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Inspired by their mission and values, I contacted Genevieve Allen to begin my journey with Club Engage.
Passion for Education and Childcare
My passion has always been centred around children. It’s not just about education for me; it’s about connecting with kids on a deeper level. I love interacting with them, playing with them, listening to their feelings, and providing the care and support they need. Being a mother figure to many children and creating a positive impact in their lives is what drives me every day.
What Sets Club Engage Apart
One of the key differences between Club Engage and other aftercare and holiday care programs is the level of regulation and professionalism we maintain. Club Engage adheres to strict standards unlike many other aftercare centres, which can often be informal and unregulated. We ensure that our staff members are thoroughly vetted and trained on an ongoing basis, with first aid training, police clearance, and checks against the sexual offenders register. We hold membership with leading play-based organisations globally including the leaders in both the USA and the UK- this supports our staff unique in this industry where staff often need to be more recognised and professionally supported.
Additionally, our approach to childcare is unique. We believe in learning through play and incorporating daily themes that teach children important values such as respect and kindness.
At Club Engage, children are not left to do their homework and watch TV, we engage with them, play with them, and ensure they are learning and growing in a fun and interactive environment. Our staff-to-child ratio of 1 to 15 allows us to provide the attention and care each child deserves.
Advice for New Franchise Owners
To anyone considering becoming a franchise owner with Club Engage, my advice is simple: it will be the hardest work you ever do and it will also be the most rewarding. Take it one day at a time and treat every child in your care as your own. By making a positive difference in their lives, you will ensure you have the highest level of care.
Conclusion
My journey with Club Engage has been an incredible experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many children. If you share a passion for childcare and a fulfilling career, consider joining the Club Engage family. Together, we can continue to provide exceptional care and support to the children in our communities.
