Good insight and business acumen make for a great franchisee

Introduction

Kay Vittee owns two Club Engage territories, Centurion and Linksfield and Brakpan and is driven by her passion for childcare, child development, learning and development and business in general.

Finding Club Engage

After 30 years in the corporate and business world, she decided to make changes. While looking for a suitable franchise, she was very excited to find Club Engage. Kay was interested in the concept of the structure processes and procedures the franchise offered, more importantly, the brand reputation and what it stands for were the driving forces behind her decision to buy into the franchise. Club Engage is an organisation with sound processes and practices all one needs to do is ‘live it’.

What makes a great franchisee

First and foremost, you must love working with children and be able to engage at a senior management and leadership level. She believes you need to be passionate about developing staff and building relationships. In addition, as a franchise owner, you need good insight and business acumen.

What are the challenges?

Finding the right people with the right skills is one of the challenges we face when recruiting for childcare. Kay says that she’s interviewed and found many people with the right qualifications but not the right attributes – they don’t resonate with their passion for childcare, which is needed.

What is the best part of owning a Club Engage franchise?

Kay shares that when children tell their parents at the end of the day they’d rather go to aftercare than school, it’s an example of their great experience at the Club Engage Centre. This is even more evident during the school holidays when the children look forward to holiday care. The happiness of a child fuels my passion for the childcare business.
